A 4 year Journey
Take a brief glimpse inside the four-year process it took to bring the Music of Limerence to life
LIMERENCE
THE ALBUM:
Conceived of as a Visual Album Film, Music is a huge part of Limerence. An Entire album (and bonus EP) worth of fantastic Jams were produced for the film by a whole slew of talented local artists.

Along with the Film we will also be releasing a Vinyl Double LP of the music for fans to enjoy Stereophonically!

It all started in the masonic temple's gargoyle room….
The gargoyle room was an open bar to the public. When the masonic temple came under new ownership, it began to rent spaces to the community in an attempt to keep rent paid. The space held open mic nights and events that local artists and musicians would frequently attend. Mike Gehbhardt and I were sitting at an old out of tune Piano, for the last year I had taken a hiatus from the movie to reposition myself and figure out what my plans were moving forward. I said, “one of the things we need to figure out is making uncopyrighted music.” Mike goes “all you gotta do is ask, there's enough talent here to make our own soundtrack!”

Mike and I worked at the same coffee shop downtown, Ad Astra Books and Coffee House. he was the bouncer, I was a barista, the community of musicians and poets in salina regularly met at Ad Astra as well, so the traffic of talent was consistent between both locations. Mike and I began to recruit musicians from the pool of talent in the area and held a screening of the rough cut for them at the temple.
The screening was received with enthusiasm and excitement for the project, mostly for the idea of how collaborative it was going to be. We rented a space in the basement of the Masonic Temple. It was a 400 sq ft room with a corner bar at the end where we set up our recording booth.
The band would agree to meet every wednesday, between everyone's schedule it seemed to work. We set a projector in the corner of the room, and writing and recording sessions began. We would watch portions of the film and the band would interpret the emotions, atmosphere and narrative in the songs. It was an opportunity for every musician to build and mold something from their own experience into the final sound and soul of the film.

The Album consists of over 5 hours of material whittled down to an hour and a half of finished music to be released as a full double LP album and an extended Ep (Consisting of songs that didn't make the final cut, along with alternative takes and polished demos.)
We plan to release both projects through the local record label musician, Jonathan Hess, created out of those same sessions in the basement of the Masonic Temple, “Jahbulon records.” Once the film is complete, this incredible music will be available to own physically and stream digitally. We hope you have as much fun jamming to it as we did making it.
